I bring bad news that the Llantwit Major Chamber of Trade and Commerce has voted in a new President (John Moisan), Junior Vice President (Paul Jones) and Secretary (Janet Moisan) that have taken it upon themselves to revamp certain features that have always worked well. Well enough to save the Chamber from possible closure just a few years ago and to boost the membership subscription levels dramatically. Because of a personal issue between myself and the Junior Vice President I have been forced out of the Committee as Marketing Officer and so it seems from the Chamber itself.

My wife (Elaine's Tearooms), also a subscribed member, has not been kept informed of meetings or given minutes of meetings, I have been told to leave the Victorian Fair Committee (which as a founder member and Vice Chairman was my idea to form) and the new Chamber website does not have my business listed. Neither do I have login details to view the members section. I have never officially resigned especially as a normal member, I have done nothing other that to try and cease the slanderous activities of the new Junior Vice President, who has become Golden Boy.

Because this website is still viewed by many each day, and because there is a new official Chamber website I feel that it is only fair that I continue to run this website as a tribute to the new Committee Officers, maybe one day even posting emails that I have received from them. Private emails you may say, but what's good for one is good for the other...

"The new Chamber site does not hold as much information as this one did and is not as attractive or inviting. I doubt I will be using it much..." These are in fact the words of a member that informed me of the new website. I have nothing against the members of the Chamber or traders of Llantwit Major - my wife and are both traders within the Town and have both worked very hard towards making the Chamber more proactive. It seems that the above text has caused some offence, and I am now being pressured by the Junior Vice President to hand over this domain name to him. Although I received a small sum from the Chamber towards the running of this site (towards my hosting fees) I still paid for the domain name. I absorbed the cost of designing the website (2 over the full term), maintaining the site, designing member logo's, designing headed paper, newspaper articles etc etc. The comments above have been classed as libelous and I have received a Nominet UK Dispute Resolution Service case. In other words, Paul Jones is trying to say that he has rights to this domain name just because he doesn't like my libelous comments above. As far as I can tell, the above is a description of what is happening, not libel - which certain people don't want you all to know about. Part of the claim to take over this (my) domain name, is that I was asked to resign from the Chamber. If anybody can find any evidence of that I would love to see it. There is no evidence because it has never happened. Another part states that I was asked if I would transfer the domain to the Chamber and that I refused. This is also incorrect. I was demanded to transfer the domain, to which attitude I refused as I own the domain and said that I, as Marketing Officer, would provide a website for the Chamber. I'll keep you posted.

I am the Junior Vice President of [the - sic] Llantwit Major Chamber of Trade. A member of the Chamber designed a website for the Chamber of Trade www.lm-cotac.co.uk and recently was asked to resign from the Chamber due to libelous comments. We requested him to tranfer [sic] the domain back to the Chamber to which he refused. He as [sic] now decided to add libelous material onto the website against myself the president John Moisan and his wife Janet Moisan. We would like this domain transfered back under the Chamber of Trades Control.

I bumped into John and Janet today and had a really nice chat with them in Somerfield. My conversation started with "Hi John, hi Janet", very rude. I then asked Janet quite politely what was happening with the Victorian Fair, of which I am supposed to be Vice Chairman and Joint Bank Account Holder. I was told to ask my wife what was happening. That confused me as much as it probably confuses you. A few seconds later I was threatened with "You haven't seen us angry yet Rob, you don't want to see us angry", in front of my 10 year old son. All very amicable and obviously no personal issues there at all. John told me that he had requested this domain name politely from me. When I argued that he had demanded it from me he said "Well (name omitted) said he would speak to you about it". This person did not speak to me about the domain or ask me for it. Our relationship is very good, so I would have been happy to discuss it with him. John didn't realise that I hadn't been asked for the domain after all, so another whoopsie by the fabulous president. He did stress, with his finger pointing at me (witnessed by several people I know who were passing in the shop at the time), that he would not discuss the case with me now. Funnily enough, he won't at any time, or in reply to emails. He and Janet don't like the fact that I am speaking freely about what has happened and is happening, and I expect some sort of legal action soon. I'll have to go through my emails and post a few here for you to see - you can make your own mind up if this is a fare and just situation, or whether there are a few buddies sticking together for their own benefits. When I asked if I would be informed of the next Open Meeting (because I was not told of the last one) Janet said "I expect (name omitted) will tell you". But, the Chamber Constitution states that the Secretary will inform everybody about meetings, so why would I need to wait and see if the Treasurer tells me? Is this the Llantwit Major Chamber of Trade and Commerce still? Is it just me or is it now a personal club that only friends can join?

PS I don't see why this page should be a problem as everything is true. There is no slander, no libel, nothing that isn't true or hasn't happened.

Today is the deadline for the domain name dispute, this may be the last time I get to use this website... If anybody else wishes to know the ins-and-outs of what has happened/is happening please feel free to call or email me. The Victorian Fair is the next big thing to cause controversy. I am Vice Chairman, my name is required as a joint signature for cheques on the bank account, but I am not allowed to know anything about the organisation anymore. Apparently I resigned from the committee, but I know that I didn't. Could it be a case of "look at me, I'm an organiser"? It will be interesting to see how cheques have been issued for outgoings relating to the Victorian Fair. I checked and my name is still on the account, maybe I'll get a statement and check that I haven't signed for any payments...
